Source passage

This entry follows the introductory talk at 02:07:08–02:09:44. The speaker discusses awareness, interrupting the secondary chain, and action.

Meaning of the three steps

  1. Awareness: distinguish the primary experience from associations added afterward.
  2. Interrupting the chain: adjust the secondary process of association, imagination and recollection, rather than denying an experience that has already occurred.
  3. Action: return to real-world activities while the experience is still present.

This is a summary of the passage, not a treatment plan for an individual reader.

Why the notes use different wording

The original notes summarize the method as accepting primary distress, restraining secondary associations, and acting while carrying distress. These formulations are related, but they are not the same original wording. The site retains the notes and labels the sources separately.

The Chinese transcript also renders “interrupting the chain” as “exercise,” two expressions pronounced duan lian. In the following explanation, the speaker spells out the characters for “interrupt” and “chain.” This entry follows that explanation; the raw transcript is preserved.
